3. scientific principles, discoveries, theories and mathematical methods
4. rules, plans and modalities used in doing business or purely mental activities
5. natural materials, except the method used for their extraction or purification

inventions that violate public order or morals, or harm human life, health, or the environment, when they are used.

Validity of the patent

A granted patent is valid for 20 years from the filing date or the date of international filing, as per the UAE Patent Law. During this period, the inventor has exclusive rights to the patented invention, after which the patent expires, and the invention enters the public domain, allowing others to use it without restrictions.

Documents Required for Filing a Patent Registration in the UAE

To register a patent in the UAE, the following documents are required:

1. Power of Attorney: Duly legalized and signed by the applicant.

2. Commercial Register Extract or Memorandum of Association: If the applicant is a company, this document must be duly legalized.
